Large-Format Printer Preventative Maintenance — Keep Your Equipment at Peak Performance
Scheduled engineer visits to clean, calibrate and inspect your large-format printers before faults develop.
Preventative maintenance is the most reliable way to extend the life of your large-format printers, maintain consistent output quality and avoid the disruption of unplanned breakdowns. Colyer's manufacturer-trained engineers carry out scheduled visits to clean, calibrate and inspect your equipment to manufacturer specification — identifying and addressing potential issues before they affect your production.
During a preventative maintenance visit, our engineers carry out a full strip-down clean of the print heads, media path and carriage system, verify calibration and colour profiles, apply any outstanding firmware updates, and inspect wear parts with recommendations for early replacement where appropriate. A written service report is provided after every visit.
Preventative maintenance is available as part of a Colyer large-format service contract — where visit frequency is determined by your contract tier — or as a standalone arrangement for businesses that prefer to manage their own maintenance schedule. For high-volume production environments, we typically recommend quarterly visits; lower-volume sites may be adequately served by biannual visits.
Our engineers are manufacturer-trained across HP, Fuji, Epson and Onyx large-format systems, and carry the specialist tools and original manufacturer parts required for each system's servicing procedures. All work is carried out to manufacturer specification and documented in a written service record.

Frequently asked questions
How often should preventative maintenance be carried out?
For high-volume production printers, we typically recommend quarterly visits. Lower-volume environments may be adequately served by biannual visits. Our team will recommend an appropriate schedule based on your usage and equipment type.
Is preventative maintenance included in a service contract?
For HP Latex printers under a Colyer UpTime Plan, scheduled preventative maintenance is included as standard. For other large-format equipment, it is available as part of your service contract or can be arranged as a standalone visit — just ask when you enquire.
Do you use original manufacturer parts?
Yes. All preventative maintenance is carried out using original manufacturer parts and tools to ensure the work meets manufacturer specification and does not affect your warranty.
What does a maintenance visit include?
A standard visit includes a full strip-down clean of the print heads, media path and carriage, calibration and colour profile verification, firmware checks and updates, inspection of wear parts, and a written service report.
