With multiple sites operating simultaneously and high demand for large-format printing of site plans and drawings, the team at the company head office near Basingstoke relied heavily on the HP T3500. With the growth of the business and an increase in sites – combined with tighter deadlines – there was a need to review the printing resources available and identify ways to improve productivity and cost-effectiveness.

After carefully evaluating all available options in the market, and taking in to account how well the current HP printer had performed, the team opted to move forward with the recently launched HP Designjet XL3800.

The primary consideration in making this decision was the machine’s exceptional productivity, as it is capable of printing up to 6xA1 prints per minute, more than double the speed of their current device. Moreover, the new HP Flex inks, being pigment-based, impart greater durability to their prints against environmental elements, a crucial requirement for on-site usage. Additionally, the machine delivers intricate CAD drawings with precision and can seamlessly handle full-colour graphics when necessary. With its larger ink tanks and efficient printhead technology, the operational costs are significantly reduced, rivalling if not surpassing those of other technologies.
