Their business model is split into three key areas: Commercial Printing which is business card flyers booklets posters and banners etc, the Imaging sector where they offer photography prints, picture frames canvas prints and photography services such as studio portraits, product shoots and Clothing print area for printable clothing range.

Steve Kershaw, the owner of York Digital Image saw an opportunity in the market to deliver consistent high-quality digital originals and reproductions of true fine art and graphics. These needed to be of exceptional quality and be repeatable with pre-prints over a given period.

Steve contacted Colyer via our website and spoke to our Sales Director Oliver Gosden to enquire as to what Colyer would recommend for this type of print work. The solution Oliver proposed was a combination of the following an Onyx Rip, Contex Ultra X HD Scanner, HP Z9 Printer, and a graphics monitor/ PC this combination would create a high-end closed-loop colour solution for direct digital printing or from hard copy accurate fine art reproduction.

The HP Z9 uses HP Pixel Control to achieve true-to-colour prints and an expanded colour gamut with RGB HP Vivid UV stable Photo Inks, featuring chromatic red, chromatic green, and chromatic blue. Combined with dual drop ink technology you achieve the best fine details and tonal graduation.

The printer is further enhanced with the use of Onyx Rip software which submits prints to the Z9 printer. Onyx is the industry-leading colour engine and integrated colour tools, ensuring superior colour accuracy, colour consistency and conformance to ICC standards you can prove to your customers.

Adding the Contex Ultra X high-definition graphics scanner means that original artworks can be scanned up to 1200 optical dpi resolution with 48-bit data capture.

Following the agreed purchase, the Z9 printer, Contex Scanner and Onyx software was delivered to the client. The Installation and training took place the next day, which allowed the client to be up and running with live jobs.
